An artistic installation in favor of peace.
The unique installation, sober and symbolicaly powerful ; the resin cuts hands caress the world from the North Pole to the South Pole and unite the locals on their way.
The artistic project « Caress the World » started at the North Pole on 5th of July on board of The icebreaker « 50 Years of Victory ».
It has visited forty countries and will travel around the world until the South Pole including the 194 countries recognized by the United Nations. A retrospective exhibition including all stages of the journey will be presented in 2023 in Venice Biennale.
Caress the World just open a time window in favor of genuine human, by shaping this hand blanks connection like a living and unlimited network around the world.
Since 2010 the hand has become the emblem, the symbol of my workshop as well as my main connection to the world. After all, the very first Works of Art were painted hands on cave walls more than 30.000 years ago.
Carefully drawn, cut and linked by threads, the hands (caresses) will be carried throughout the globe from the most secluded regions to the most populated areas, and left alone to dance into the wind, caressing the world and bringing hope. This artistic project has no boundaries, it is only limited by the realm of one’s imagination.
These hands are building up to become a network, a lively and unlimited network linking the various continents, countries and regions. The installations are either permanent or not, depending on the conditions, the locations. They act as Wake-up calls to open our eyes to the Universality of Art and the power of Human Spirit .
The project is based upon the desire to build bridges between the various regions, cultures and beeings on the planet. What else than Art could bring forth a proces of awareness and enhanced perception of this oneness of the human species ?
What could be more harmonious than the caressing hand ? Contact is made through the hand, so why not use hands to connect and unité the world and its inhabitants ? Beyond words and and beyond looks, the caressing hand is what makes one feel the infinite power of love.
